On the morning of Friday, February 11, 2022, Thomas William Waugh, 80, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven.

Tom was born on June 11, 1941, in Port Elizabeth, South Africa to the late Walter and Ruth Wilkinson Waugh. He attended Saint Andrew’s Preparatory School in Grahamstown, South Africa until returning to Akron, Ohio at the age sixteen. He continued his high school education at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania and graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College.

After graduation, Tom was commissioned in the Air Force and had various tours in Texas, Japan, and many years at the Pentagon. In 1982 he was stationed at RAF Mildenhall and was the Base Commander during his last year there. Tom’s final tour was to Robins Air Force Base where he retired in 1993 after twenty-eight years of active-duty service and also completed a Master of Public Administration from Georgia College and State University. After retirement, Tom went to work for Middle Georgia State University and retired again in 2012. He continued to work part time for the university as a Senior Analyst.

CGSA soccer was a big part of his life both as a coach and referee for many years. He attended the RAFB Chapel and enjoyed singing in their choir. Growing up, Tom played rugby and was an accomplished pianist and organist. Tom loved his family, motorcycles, sports cars, reading and cats. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Dr. James Waugh of Kent, Ohio.

His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife of forty-three years, Marcy; children, Keith and Alison and grandson, Gavin.
