Tod Judson Cowart

In the early afternoon hours of Sunday, December 20, 2015, Tod Cowart passed away peacefully at the Houston Medical Center. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born in McRae, Georgia, Tod was the son of the late Young A. and Carolyn Medders Cowart. He was 53 years old. He grew up in Eastman and graduated from Dodge County High School in 1980. Tod continued his education at the University of Georgia, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1985. He was a devoted husband and father and had a love of coaching. In fact, Tod coached many of the teams on which his children, Will and Caroline, played. He coached Upward at Second Baptist and helped start the Upward Program at Central Baptist Church, where he currently has a team. While coaching at the Warner Robins American Little League, his daughter's All-Star team won the State Championship; this was a highlight of his time as a coach. Tod was also a member of the Rotary Club of Houston County. Finally, it must be said that Tod was a lifelong, deeply devoted fan of his beloved Georgia Bulldogs.

Tod was the Executive Director of Houston County Association for Exceptional Citizens; he truly enjoyed his work with Happy Hour, as the HCAEC is known; he considered it a ministry. He was an active member of Central Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, on many committees, and where he was very involved with the music ministries.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 29 years, Susan Walker Cowart of Warner Robins; children, Caroline Delane Cowart of Lavonia, Georgia; William Judson Cowart of Athens, Georgia; brother, Timothy Y. Cowart (Kathy) of Snellville; sister, Laura C. Roberds (Chris) of Atlanta; one niece and several nephews; one great-niece; two great nephews; many cousins, aunts, and uncles and numerous other beloved family members.

Visitation with Tod's family will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Central Baptist Church. Following the service, Tod will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
