Tonya Gale Landis

February 6, 1967 — March 3, 2020

Tonya Gale Landis, 53, passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

Born in Shelby, Ohio, on February 6, 1967, Tonya was the daughter of Tom G. Ramey and Gale Moore-Caldwell. She worked as a sheet metal mechanic at Robins Air Force Base for 15 years where she helped with rudders on the F-15 while simultaneously earning an Associate’s degree in Education, a Bachelor’s degree in guidance counseling, and a Master’s degree in psychology. Tonya used her degrees to teach structural maintenance at Central Georgia Technical College and overseas at Abu Dhabi International School. Most recently, she worked as an analyst for Hexagon U.S. Federal.

Tonya deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was the “rock” of the family and was extremely dependable; everyone always went to her for advice. Tonya’s eccentric and modern-day hippie personality always made for a fun time for everyone around her. She loved dancing, listening to all types of music, and traveling, especially to the beach and mountains. Tonya was also a great cook and mastered many foreign dishes; she loved trying new things. She became a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in 2011, the same year that she married the love of her life, Darrin J. Landis.

She is survived by her loving husband of nine years, Darrin J. Landis; children, Tasha Essick (Kenneth), Trista Morrison (Cody Rainey), Taylor Morrison (Anna Prichard), Tyler Landis, and Bailey Landis; grandchildren, Westley, Cason, Aubria, and Neely Essick, Dagen Rainey, and a baby girl on the way; parents, Tom G. Ramey and Gale Moore-Caldwell (James); siblings, David F. Ramey and Rebecca Ramey (Scott Augustine); uncle, Steven Dale Bartram; several nieces and nephews; and best friend/sister, Elaine Evans.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, 2020, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.
