Tracy Renee Cossette

February 4, 1973 — December 15, 2020

A woman full of courage, strength, and love, Tracy Renee Cossette, 47, passed away at Houston Medical Center on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, after a battle with Covid-19.

A Middle Georgia native, Tracy was born on February 4, 1973, in Macon, Georgia. She was the daughter of Thomas A. Bates and Emma L. Bates. Tracy was a Christian raised in the Baptist faith. In January of 1995, Tracy began working at Southern Lighting in Warner Robins and was the current manager with 26 years of experience. If there ever was an example of a great worker and a leader, Tracy was it. Her friends and family of Southern Lighting will truly miss her.

Tracy’s spirit would light up a room; she had a heart that would rub off on others and a smile that would bring out the best in people. Tracy was the best representative of family first. No matter the situation or circumstance, she made sure that her family never went without. She was the best caregiver of her husband, son, parents, and any other family member who needed it. She was the rock that kept the family grounded and together. In her free time, Tracy loved to shop. She also enjoyed taking care of and playing with her two grand-dogs, “River” and “Riley.” Tracy will remain in the hearts of her family and friends. The great memories they made together will always be a treasure. It has been said that “it is never a good-bye but instead see you later.”

Tracy is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jack and Sarah Bates; maternal grandmother, Rinda Pettis; maternal grandfather, Charles L. Sanders; and loyal dog companion of 18 years, “Blake.”

Tracy is survived by her beloved husband, Gary A. Cossette of Bonaire, Georgia; son, Hunter Cossette (Kayla) of Cochran, Georgia; father and stepmother, Thomas A. and Anne Bates of Bonaire; mother, Emma Bates of Lizella; brother, Thomas Nick Bates (Julia) of Bonaire; special family, Bill and Gale Schwanebeck and a host of beloved extended family members.
