Tsgt. Lela "Kathy" Kronberg Usaf (Ret.)

December 29, 1948 — October 25, 2018

Warner Robins – Lela K. “Kathy” Kronberg, TSgt, USAF Retired, graced our world with her arrival on December 29th, 1948 and met St. Peter and our Lord on October 25th, 2018.

Her mother, the late Mildred Loraine Carson (Cox) and father, the late Don Adam Carson, knew they held a treasure that day in Tyler, Texas, as she was the first daughter in the Carson family in 35 years. She was the only sibling of this family but immediately fell in love with a “mess of” half family members that would “bless her little heart,” a favorite statement of Kathy’s that she would use frequently.

Kathy easily made friends wherever her daddy’s construction business moved them to. She was the happiest when they settled in the Dallas, Texas and the Oklahoma City areas during her junior high and high school years. In those states, she was within a short drive to a large number of her relatives.

Kathy left Oklahoma to join the United States Air Force in late October, 1972. After supply technical training near Denver, Colorado, she reported to March AFB in Riverside, California. There, she met her future husband, Larry, who was also active duty USAF. Both of them were searching for their significant other when karma struck and they got engaged on Thanksgiving Friday, 1973. They were married on April 20, 1974 in Durant, Oklahoma. Thus started the journey of fighting the personnel assignments to keep them stationed together. They were assigned to RAF Upper Heyford, UK; Scott AFB, Illinois; and Izmir, Turkey, before returning stateside to Robins AFB, Georgia, where they retired. They both had civil service careers after retiring from the military amassing a total of 73.5 years of service to our country.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bud, Jim, Weldon, and James.

Kathy was the love knot of the family, always encouraging activities that could be done together, such as traveling, camping, bowling, and sometimes just a picnic to get out of town and explore someplace new, as well as cake decorating and genealogy. She was proud of her kinship to pioneer Kit Carson and President Andrew Jackson (although not of some of the actions he took while in office).

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of nearly 45 years, Larry Kronberg of Warner Robins, Georgia; three miracle children, daughter, Laurelee Ann Manchester (Josh) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Ryan Patrick of Warner Robins; and daughter (and BFF) Christy Marie Williams, also of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Jeremy and Erin of Colorado, Ethan, Kaleb, Madison, and Carson of Warner Robins; sisters, Doyce Laverene Harmer (Jim) of Merced, California, and Rita Gayle Otto and cherished nieces, Traci Knighten (Tom) of Houston, Texas, and Tina Richardson (Ross) of Bush, Louisiana; and numerous additional cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Rosary will be said Monday, October 29, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Afterwards, Mrs. Kronberg will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
