Violet Katheryn Hudson Wood

Violet Wood, 86, walked through the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, November 11, 2015.

Violet was born on February 20, 1929 in Laurinburg, North Carolina to the late Carlos Tracy (C.T.) and Lola Prevatte Hudson. She was a devoted homemaker who faithfully served her husband and lovingly raised her children. In 1967, the Wood Family moved from Port Arthur, Texas and settled in Warner Robins. Central Baptist was her church home where she was in the choir and hand bells, taught children's Sunday School, and led a children's choir program. She also taught adult literacy in Warner Robins. Violet was a skilled quilter and an avid collector of antiques, especially depression glass and Blue Ridge early American pottery. At one time she raced her personal sports car in sanctioned timed Rally races in the Middle Georgia area.

Mrs. Wood leaves behind her memory with her loving husband, Thomas E. Wood, Sr. of Warner Robins; children, Amy Katheryn Wood of Duluth, Gail Wood and husband Tom Clark of Conyers, and Thomas E. Wood, Jr. and wife Jill, of Johns Creek as well as grandchildren Jonathan, Maxwell, and Andrew; Sister Norma Rattelade of Raleigh, North Carolina; and many adoring nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 14, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Central Baptist Church. Afterwards, Mrs. Wood will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
