Virginia C. Buchan

Virginia C. Buchan held hands with her beloved husband, TSgt. James “Ted” Buchan, Sr., USAF (Ret.) in heaven on the morning of Tuesday, April 24, 2018. She was 91.

Virginia was born on February 2, 1927 in Hawkinsville, Georgia to the late Robert Spears and Clifford Sammie Bohannon Cheek. A wonderful homemaker, she dedicated her life to being a supportive military wife, loving mother, and superb cook. Virginia was also a faithful member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Terrell Buchan (Kimberly) of Lagrange, Georgia, Cathy Mullis (Jimmy) of Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Sharon Scarborough (Mike) of Montezuma; four grandchildren, Derrell Mullis (Melinda), Phillip Buchan (Ashley), Mallory Smith (Scot), and Dalton Cross; four great-grandchildren, Thomas, Arthur, and Joanna Buchan, and Noah Mullis; brother, Franklin Cheek (Patricia) of Hawkinsville; and a number of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, April 27, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Rev. Joe D. Haselden and Rev. Mike Scarborough officiating. After the service, Mrs. Buchan will be laid to rest next to her husband in Browndale Church Cemetery in Pulaski County at 2:00 p.m.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Andrews Terrace, Summerhill Senior Living Community in Perry for their loving care and support over the last five years.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Virginia to Shirley Hills Baptist Church, 615 Corder Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
