Virginia H. Stewart

April 27, 1947 — January 16, 2018

Mrs. Virginia Stewart went home to be with her LORD on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 after a full and blessed life. She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and settled in Warner Robins, Georgia in 1975. Virginia retired in 2010 after serving the Houston County Magistrate Court for 28 years as Clerk of the Magistrate Court. She loved her job and those she worked with became family. Virginia was a strong advocate for those who faced adversity, serving on several committees supporting victims of domestic violence. She also supported the Salvation Army Safe House and the Rainbow House Children’s Resource Center.

Virginia loved worshipping and serving Christ, which coupled with her friendly, outgoing personality, often found her greeting and serving those who visited and attended First Christian Church of Perry. She adored her church family and often wondered how people managed life without having one.

Virginia loved shopping and fishing, but truly enjoyed just spending time with her family and friends. Her generosity was infectious, as she hated to see others in need, always willing to share what she had. She will be truly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Gladys Hudson; and her husband of 41 years, Robert Stewart. Left to honor her memory are her daughter, Tonya Hipps (Brian); stepsons, John Stewart (Sandi) and Doug Stewart; grandchildren, Jacob, Tricia, and Tammi Hipps; sister, Carole Alexander; nephew, Roger Young; and nieces, Debbie Young and Veronica Alexander.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 20, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church in Perry. A memorial service celebrating Virginia’s life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Ron Nolen officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Family Promise of Greater Houston County, P.O. Box 8434, Warner Robins, GA 31095-8434 or to Rainbow House Children’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1239, Warner Robins, GA 31099.

McCullough Funeral Home has the privilege of being entrusted with Mrs. Stewart’s arrangements.
