Walter O. Gregory, Jr.

On the morning of Thursday, December 15, 2016, 80-year-old Walter O. Gregory, Jr. went to be with the Lord.

Walter was born in Orlando Florida on September 28, 1936, to the late Walter and Laura Gregory. As a young boy, he and his family moved to Decatur, Georgia where he graduated from Decatur High School in 1956. As an Airman in the United States Navy, he was a plankowner aboard the USS Independence. On August 18, 1959, Walter married his high school sweetheart Barbara Ann Rauschenberg.

Walter then began his career as a Life Insurance Salesman for Met Life Insurance Company, he retired at the age of fifty-eight. Later he went to work for Cochran Motor Company with James Bryant. Walter always enjoyed being involved in his children's lives and activities. He and Barbara owned a camper and loved to travel to the Great Smokey Mountains as a family. Walter was a current member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and a former member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Gregory; children, Daphene Alison Stafford (David) and Linda Ann Stewart all of Byron; Kathy Marie Jordan (Keith) of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Kasey Lynn Wilson; Amy Simone Luna; Tony Christopher Stewart; Joel David Gregory; Kristy Leanne Fetters; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, John Allen Gregory (Patty) of Ball Ground, Georgia.

At the family's request all services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Walter O. Gregory, Jr. to the Humane Society of Houston County, P.O. Box 9588, Warner Robins, GA 31095.
