Wayne Freeman

October 24, 1934 — August 21, 2019

Wayne Freeman died at the age of 84 on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Houston Healthcare. He was born in Dublin, Georgia on October 24, 1934.

Wayne was a United States Air Force Veteran who proudly retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. He was a “Ford man” no matter what and adored working as a driver for Riverside Ford in his retirement years. Wayne was affectionately known as “Foo Foo” by all of his coworkers.

In 1975, Wayne and his wife, Ernestine were united in marriage. She sadly passed away in 2015 leaving him with countless memories to cherish their time together. Traveling was their favorite activity to share; he was delighted to take her to Hawaii where it was always her dream to visit.

In his leisure time, Wayne religiously followed NASCAR, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Atlanta Falcons. He always donned a UGA shirt and carried a NASCAR jacket everywhere he went; Dale Earnhardt, Sr. was his favorite driver. Wayne was a reborn Christian and very active member of Trinity Baptist Church. There, he eagerly utilized his sociable personality to make friends with all of the members. Wayne had a way with people and genuinely loved each of them as Jesus would.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Ernestine Marilyn Freeman; and his children, Kenny Brown, Raymond Brown, Sharon Brown Watson, and Daniel Brown.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving grandchildren, Terri Bowden (Cory) of Byron; Charles Brown (Kristen) of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Michael Brown (Alicia) of Elgin, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Paulette Brown of Elgin, Oklahoma; several great-grandchildren; and his Dachshund, “Dolly.”
