William ''Bill'' Mcgowan

William “Bill” McGowan, 76, died Friday, August 16, 2002 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 18 at First Baptist Church of Warner Robins with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at McCullough Funeral Home.

Mr. McGowan was born in Soperton, Georgia. A World War II Veteran, he served in the United States Army. He was retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Warner Robins where he had served as a Deacon. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, AFGE, Masonic Tyrian Lodge, and the Al Sihah Shrine Temple. Additionally, he spent many years coaching and officiating with local youth football, baseball, basketball and softball programs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Jack and Jermie Chafin McGowan.

Survivors include his wife, Alene Peacock McGowan, Warner Robins; daughters, Mary Jayne McGowan, Monroe, GA; Marsha McGowan Hall, Bonaire; son-in-law, Thomas Hall, Bonaire; son, William “Bo” McGowan, Burkburnett, TX; daughter-in-law, Kelley McGowan, Burkburnett, TX; brother, Marcus McGowan, Vidalia, GA; and four granddaughters, Hannah and Amelia Hall and Carson and Bailey McGowan.
