William Charles Dorsey, Jr.

William Charles Dorsey, Jr., 71, entered into rest on Thursday, December 19, 2013.

Charles was born on March 4, 1942 in Macon, Georgia to the late William C. Dorsey, Sr. and Nell Louise Dorsey Ferguson. He was a 1961 graduate of Byron High School and graduated from Woodrow Wilson School of Law in 1976. Charles was accepted into the Georgia Bar Association on October 13, 1977. He practiced law in the Middle Georgia area for ten years. During that time, he participated in the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeals for the Federal District Court.

His favorite pastime was working with his hands and he was also a car buff. Charles loved music and his band, the Silver Rose and Co. and The Country Esquires. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Allred Dorsey and his parents.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Charlotte A. Dorsey, Byron, Georgia; children, Robert Earl Dorsey (Elaine), Byron, Georgia; Cynthia Diane McGreggor (Vince), Lizella, Georgia; Alan Charles Dorsey (Carolynn), Byron, Georgia; Steven Ray Dorsey (Catherine), Warner Robins, Georgia; six grandchildren, Lisa Dorsey, Jenny Robinson, Ashley Honrath, Hunter McGreggor, Deanne Layfield and Raylen Dorsey; three great-grandchildren, Landon Robinson, Kiley Honrath and Madison Layfield; stepdaughters, Sandra Thomason, Decatur, Alabama; Cindy-Lee Brooks, Long Beach, California; Barbara Jean Sharum, Decatur, Alabama; Cathy-Ann Price, Orange, California; Jean Wernimont, Murietta, California; Jane Gill, Eastman, Georgia; and Angel Wise, Gray, Georgia; nine step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; siblings, James Earl Dorsey (Gail), Byron and Cynthia Yvonne Wilder (George), Lakeland, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 22, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2013 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Byron City Cemetery.
