William Michael "Mike" Hester

William Michael "Mike" Hester, 69, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 25, 2015.

Mike was born on October 13, 1945 in Tifton, Georgia to the late Doyle and Patience Golden Hester. After graduating high school, he proudly joined the United States Navy to serve his country in the Vietnam War. Subsequent to his military career, he became an HVAC technician for Firestone and retired from Northrop Grumman.

A sports enthusiast, Mike played for the Albany Vikings, a semi-pro football team. He also enjoyed coaching football and baseball, refereeing football, and umpiring baseball. Mike was devoted to God and called Mikado Baptist his church home where he was a member of the Jehovah Jirah Sunday School Class.

Mike's memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 42 years, Joyce Hester of Byron; children, Charles Alan Hester (Angie) of Canton and Sara Honrath (Tony) of Warner Robins; four grandchildren, Candence Lowe (Josh), Chad Hester, and Dean and Jack Honrath; two great-grandchildren, Finley and Piper; sisters, Genene Waller (Walter) of Ty Ty and Amelia Johnson of Tifton; and many adoring nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, February 27, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
