Willie Maude Carter

Willie Maude Carter, 87, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2007.

Mrs. Carter was born on January 31, 1920 in Worth County, Georgia. She worked many years in the cotton mills where she retired. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Centerville. Her hobbies included: sewing, working in the yard, enjoying the flowers she grew and spoiling her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents William and Willie Belle Peacock, her first husband, Clarence Twitty Burkes, her second husband of forty years Herman Levi Carter, Sr. and her son, Louie Clarence Burkes.

Survivors include her children, Donald Franklin Burkes, Centerville; Delmar Elige Burkes, Carrolton; Herman Levi Carter, Jr., Crawford County; Lurline Cleo Singletary, Warner Robins; Eighteen grandchildren, many, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at McCullough Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.
