Albert "Bert" Martin Smith, Iii

Albert "Bert" Martin Smith, III passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in Macon, Georgia, at the age of 50. A proud native of Middle Georgia, Bert was born on January 28, 1973 to his parents, Kaye Sargent, and Albert Martin Smith II.

After high school, Bert received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from Georgia College and State University. Bert worked as a long-haul truck driver for Schneider Trucking Company and previously worked for the Houston County BOE at Bonaire Middle School. Bert was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Bert is survived by his wife of 21 years, Laura Ann Smith of Perry; children, Joshua Smith of Perry, Jessica Tuttle (Josh) of Newnan; and Chris Ryjkoff (Courtney) of Sparks, Nevada; grandchildren, Elliott, Violet, and Rowan; mother and step-father, Kaye Sargent and Timothy (Tad) of Perry; father and step-mother, Albert Martin Smith, II and Mary-Jane of Soperton; siblings, Carrie Ashworth (Brad) of Marietta, and Joshua Dylan Herrington (Kaitlyn) of Bonaire; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous extended family members.

The family will be holding private services.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be given to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Georgia to 1920 Dresden Drive #191591, Atlanta, Georgia 31119.
