Aletha “Lee” Walls, age 100, entered into Heaven on April 12, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was born on August 17, 1925, in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, to the late Robert and Flora Gheen. At a young age, her family relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, where she was raised. It was there that she married and began her family. Throughout her life, Lee also made homes in Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia, touching many lives along the way.
Lee retired after many years as a switchboard operator, a career that took her to work in several states. During World War II, she contributed to the war effort by working at Curtis Bay Army Ordnance at the time “D-Day” began.
A woman of deep faith and service, Lee was a longtime member of Oakland Baptist Church. She faithfully served in the nursery and helped in the kitchen during Vacation Bible School. She was known as a true prayer warrior, regularly calling others to offer encouragement, comfort, and prayer.
Lee also gave her time volunteering with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, making monthly visits to the Veterans Hospital in Dublin, Georgia. She remained active in her later years, attending weekly senior aerobics with her church family.
She had a love for life’s simple joys—traveling, camping, and watching old westerns. The mountains held a special place in her heart, and Shenandoah National Park was her favorite destination, where she enjoyed camping trips with friends and family.
In addition to her parents, Lee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvel Walls.
Her love and memory will forever be treasured by her children, Wanda Gilbert, Gary Walls, and Sherrie Kohlhepp (Wayne), all of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Craig Walls (Kara) of Holly Springs, North Carolina. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to 10 grandchildren, as well as 7 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
