Alfred Levone Shepard was born on October 20, 1935, in Lanett, Alabama, to the late Jim and Lynnie Thompson Shepard, and was the youngest of five brothers and sisters. He was raised in Thomaston, Georgia, where he developed the strong work ethic, patriotism, and hands-on skills that defined his life. Alfred entered into eternal rest on January 18, 2026.

He attended R. E. Lee High School, where he was an active member of the ROTC. After graduating in 1954, Alfred proudly enlisted in the United States Army. During his military service, he worked in the Army Security Agency and was stationed in Kenai, Alaska. He earned the rank of Specialist Third Class (SP3(T)) and honorably served his country during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

On May 30, 1958, Alfred married the love of his life, Dorothy. Their marriage of sixty-seven years and 7 months was a lifelong partnership built on love, devotion, and family.

Following his military service, Alfred worked at Thomaston Mills while furthering his education at Gordon College in Barnesville. In 1962, he began his career at Robins Air Force Base, commuting daily from Thomaston. In 1965, he relocated his family to Warner Robins, where he continued working at the base until his retirement in 1991, completing 30 years of dedicated service.

Alfred enjoyed camping and traveling, visiting destinations throughout the United States, Alaska, and Canada. He was gifted with his hands and took great pride in building additions to his home, adding rooms and improvements through his own skill and craftsmanship. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his wife and grandchildren, who were the greatest joy of his life.

A man of faith and service, Alfred was a devoted member of Green Acres Baptist Church, where he faithfully served in the Bus Ministry, assisting with bus repairs. He was also a proud member of the American Legion.

Alfred Levone Shepard will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his faithful service to his country and church, and the legacy of dedication, humility, and love he leaves behind.

In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his siblings, Elma Harbin, Thomas Shepard, James Shepard, Ruby Brown, Aubrey Shepard, and Frank Shepard.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife, Dorothy Shepard of Warner Robins, Georgia; children, Allen B. Shepard (Dawn) of Windsor, Canada, and Regina Signer (Tim) of Perry, Georgia; grandchildren, Kristen Topping (Brad), Brendan Shepard (Aubrey), Nick Shepard, his buddy Jonathan Shepard, Brian Wilson (Rachel), Victoria Rainey (Chris), Katelan Hicks (Rowe), Nathaniel Signer, Hunter Signer, and Gabe Signer; sisters-in-law, Laverne Shepard and Jeanette Shepard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
