Anita Gail Lucas

Early on the morning of Sunday, March 13, 2022, Anita Lucas, 57, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven.

Anita was born on July 6, 1964, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She grew up in Macon, Georgia and graduated from Southwest Highschool in 1982. Following her graduation she married the love of her life, Donald E. Lucas. She devoted her life to raising her family but as her children got older, Anita began working in the Nutrition department at Porter Elementary School where she dedicated twenty years of service. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and cruises, but as a mother her focus was always her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by two children; Ryan Keith Lucas and Bryan Christopher Lucas; father, Merl Wesley Gillion, and brother Wesley Joe Harley.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved husband of forty years, Donald Lucas; children, Brandy Nicole Lucas of Eastman, Michael Todd Lucas of Macon, Brittney Michelle Leverett (John) of Bryon; grandchildren, Justin Tyler Lucas, Ryan Christopher Connell, Alissa Grace Connell, Lucas Paul Leverett and Leigha Michelle Leverett and mother, Peggy Ann Harley.

Visitation with Anita’s family will be Tuesday, March 15, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest.
