Anthony “Tony” Ryan Asbell, 35, of Bonaire, Georgia, unexpectedly passed away on July 19, 2026.

Tony was born on November 28, 1990, in Lancaster, Ohio, and grew up in Bonaire, Georgia, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and generosity.

Tony attended Warner Robins High School, graduating in 2009. He worked in construction, and as a mechanic, he could fix or build just about anything. He approached each job with patience, determination, and the same pride he brought to his woodworking. A member of The Grove Church in Perry, Tony’s faith and his church community were important pieces of his life.

From a young age, Tony showed a remarkable work ethic and a talent for building things with his hands. He started in residential construction before he was old enough to drive, learning the value of a job well done and the satisfaction that came from seeing a project finished. In high school, he joined a woodworking elective and discovered how much he loved being artistic and creative. He especially enjoyed building furniture and developed a signature style of finishing pieces with a torch, giving them a unique character that reflected his own. His ability to turn raw materials into something beautiful and useful was one of the many ways he expressed his heart and creativity.

More than anything, Tony loved spending time with family. He enjoyed working on cars with his sons, tinkering with anything with a bolt with his dad, camping, fishing, and riding dirt roads, especially when it meant being together. He was kind and generous, loved hard, and never hesitated to help anyone in need - friends, neighbors, or complete strangers. Tony spent his days making sure the people around him were happy and healthy and was known as a deeply supportive friend who showed up without being asked.

Whether you knew him or not, Tony would want his memory carried forward by you living your life centered around family, loving others and lending a helping hand anywhere you can.

Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Leanne Asbell, whose recent passing weighed heavily on his heart but also strengthened his resolve to care for those he loved.

He is survived by his father, Dave Gilkey II; his sisters, Camie and Tyea, of Ohio; his sons, Dalton and Rylan. Tony also played a loving and influential role in the lives of Kinzlee, Hayden, and Taylon, whom he cherished as his own. Along with many other extended family members and lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations to the GoFundMe organized by The Grove Church on the family’s behalf would be greatly appreciated. Tony was a devoted provider, and his passing will bring a financial strain that extends beyond inurnment and memorial expenses.

A gathering will be held to honor Tony’s memory on Saturday August 8th at McCullough Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 12:00pm followed by a memorial service at 1:00.
