Barbara Joan Bainter

June 5, 1940 — February 2, 2025

Warner Robins

Barbara Joan Bainter, 84, of Warner Robins and formerly of Indianapolis, IN, passed away, February 2, 2025. She was born June 5, 1940, in New Palestine, IN, to James Everett and Thelma Louise (Stapp) Settles.

Barbara moved around often during her husband's 20 years in the Air Force, to places including Indiana, Montana, Idaho, New Mexico, Alaska and Georgia. After settling in Warner Robins, she dedicated many years of her life working in factories, including Pabst Blue Ribbon, Lockheed Martin, and Keebler.

Barbara had many hobbies and talents. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter, enjoying crafting, shopping and decorating - especially for Christmas. Her house was always a magical place for the kids during the holidays.

At the core of it all, Barbara's life was always grounded by family. From her early life as one of 10 children, until her death, family was always most important to her. Her family, which includes 11 grandchildren as well as 15 great grandchildren, loved her wonderful sense of humor and generous nature. Time at Mamaw's house was always fun...from swimming, to the occasional marshmallow fight. The kids loved spending time laughing and being silly with her and she cherished all of her time with them.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Errol "Jack" Bainter; son, Mark Bainter; and siblings Carl Settles, Janett Wallace, Marcia Settles, and Kenneth Settles.

She is survived by her children, Debra (Harold) Hester, Brian (Christy) Bainter, and Robin (Marty) Jones; grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Brantley; Jason (Amber) Hester; Joshua (Amanda) Hester; Branden Jones; Angela Hester; Jack (Nisha) Bainter, Valerie Jones; Victoria (Cassie) Jones; Jacquelyn Evener; Tracy (Thomas) Stephens; and Ken Bainter.

Also surviving Barbara are her beloved siblings, Ladonna (Pete) Rather, James (Sheila) Settles, Patti (Michael) Taylor; Stella Wall; Roger (Patricia) Settles, and Judy Settles along with many nieces and nephews.

Even though her later years were made much more difficult from the symptoms of Alzheimer's, she remained the gracious, happy, loving lady who smiled often and never forgot to say "thank you". Barbara was loved by all who were a part of her life and we feel so blessed to be able to call her mom and mamaw.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in the mausoleum at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
