Lifelong middle Georgia resident and longtime, faithful member of Sandy Valley Baptist Church, Barbara C. Pulliam, passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of Monday, March 6, 2023. She was born in Perry, GA on September 8, 1947 to the late William Clifford and Madie McKinney Cates and was happily married for 49 years to the late Byce W. Pulliam, who passed away in January of 2015.
Growing up in Bonaire, Barbara was a 1965 graduate of Warner Robins High School and was eager to begin a family with the love of her life, B.W. The couple were married soon after graduation and started having children right away. Barbara relished being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker for the family she loved so dearly. Further down the road, she began working with Pulliam Wallpaper Hanging, a job she enjoyed for many years. Barbara was a remarkable cook (on top of being the best wife and mother) and took great joy in feeding her family and friends. Worshiping and fellowshipping at Sandy Valley and going RV camping with family were among her favorite ways to pass the time.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dell Chambers and William “Bill” Cates.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sheila Fennell (Ken), Kim Ligeikis and April Lewis, all of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Alex Lewis (Cheyenne), and Becca, Daisy and Stevie Ligeikis; great-grandchildren, Zoey and Amellia Lewis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Sandy Valley Baptist Church, with Reverend Phil Bryant and Reverend Ken Fennell officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest next to B.W. in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Barbara to Agape Hospice Care, 645 Tallulah Trail, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
