Barbara Weaver Cowan

February 12, 1941 — December 12, 2025

Savannah

Barbara Weaver Cowan, born in Milan, Georgia, on February 12, 1941, to the late Lester and Annie Willis Weaver, entered into eternal rest on December 12, 2025.

Shortly after Barbara’s birth, her family moved to Warner Robins, which she proudly called home for the rest of her life. She was the oldest of six children and, though she stood just 4 feet 10 inches tall, she was unquestionably the leader of the bunch. Barbara lovingly watched over her five brothers and sisters throughout her life, keeping them all in line with quiet strength and determination.

On March 18, 1962, Barbara married the love of her life, Clyde “Smitty” Cowan. Together they embraced military life, moving wherever duty called before eventually retiring and settling back in Warner Robins. During their journey, they raised three daughters—Candy, Sherry, and Brandy. Barbara was truly the matriarch of her family, the steady force who held everyone together through both good times and challenging moments.

Barbara’s arms were always open for a hug, a kiss, and a heartfelt “I love you.” Her lap was forever ready to rock a baby, and her heart never knew limits when it came to caring for others. She was always eager for a camping trip or an epic barbecue, bringing family and friends together with love and laughter.

In the later years of her life, Barbara’s memory slowly faded, but her wit and feisty personality never left her. She remained quick with an “I love you” and her signature phrase, “Let me tell you something…,” reminding everyone of the strong woman she had always been.

Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her—a woman who was quiet yet mighty, small in stature but immense in love and strength.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Cowan; daughter, Sherry Abney; and siblings, Henry Weaver, Don Weaver, and Janice Potter.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughters, Catherine Sietsema and Brandy Cowan; grandchildren, Jacob Lane, Christina Capaldi, Alexis Lane, Randall Abney, Joshua Lane, Nicholas Lane, Arianna Mathews, Jackson Jay, and Olivia Jay; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Lane, Caleb Lane, Mia Lane Martinez, Diane Capaldi, Jason Capaldi, Jacob Capaldi, and Clifford Lodge; and siblings, Franky Weaver and Cherry Weaver.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service life will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m., at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
