Barry Victor Gay, 60, passed away on March 31, 2026.
Barry was born in Macon, Georgia, on May 23, 1965, to the late Edward Gay and Dorothy Etheridge Gay. He was a graduate of Southwest High School, Class of 1983.
Barry was known for his strong work ethic and skilled hands. He spent many years working in maintenance for YKK and later for Perdue Chicken in Perry. Eventually, he followed his passion by starting his own small engine repair business at home, where he took great pride in providing honest, reliable service at a fair price. Barry had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything, and he found deep satisfaction in seeing the results of his hard work.
Outside of work, Barry enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved riding motorcycles, especially through the mountains of North Georgia in the fall. Music was always close to his heart, with a special love for 1980s classics. He also had a fondness for eagles, admiring the strength and symbolism of the national bird.
Barry cherished time with his family. He enjoyed playing board games, cooking for loved ones—especially grilling—and creating lasting memories with his grandchildren. Whether it was giving them rides in his truck or on his golf cart, those moments brought him immense joy.
Barry will be remembered as a hardworking man, a talented fixer, and a devoted family member who took pride in everything he did with his own two hands. He enjoyed making people laugh to brighten their day. His presence, skills, and love for family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Brenda Gay; sons, Brandon Gay (Brianna) and Brian Gay (Ying); grandchildren, Jordyn Wilson, Autumn Gay, Lincoln Gay, Olivia Gay, and Isabelle Gay; siblings, David Gay, Nancy Gombkoto, Sheila Hunnicutt, and Karen White; and a host of other family members.
A memorial gathering will be on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Shirley Hills Baptist Church, with a memorial service immediately following.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
