Warner Robins

Betty Jean Abston, 91, entered into rest on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Betty was born on December 28, 1933, in Gordo, Alabama, to the late Horace and Mary Lou Phillips. A devoted wife, mother, nanny, grand-nanny, and friend, she will be remembered as one of the sweetest, kindest, most forgiving, and nurturing souls—truly one of a kind. A woman of deep faith, she found joy in playing the piano and singing the cherished hymns of the church. Betty was a proud and longtime member of both the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She also expressed her creativity as the owner of Betty’s Plaque Shack, where she crafted ceramics, a skill lovingly passed down from her mother. Betty will be deeply missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Alvie Lee Abston, son, Mike Abston, and siblings, Dot Swindle, Annie Ruth Garner, Horace Phillips, and Martha Ann Higdon.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughters, Linda Abston Sorrow (Buddy) and Diane Abston Wright (Glenn); grandchildren, David A. Sorrow and Lisa B. Moss (Randy); great-grandchildren, Payton R. Moss (Brooke) and Brannen D. Moss (Averi); and great-great-grandchild, Adaline Mae.

At the family’s request, all services will be private.
