With her devoted husband at her side, Betty Lavern Hisaw passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Mrs. Hisaw was born on November 15, 1940 to the late James Earl and Elizabeth Woodley. Her life began in Oklahoma where she met her husband who was serving in the United States Air Force. As his military career carried their young family from base to base, Mrs. Hisaw also served her country as a civil servant in each location, working first as a secretary, then a supply clerk, and finally as a manager before her retirement from Robins Air Force Base where the Hisaws had settled in 1973.

During their time in Warner Robins, they purchased a house on Lake Sinclair and made many precious memories through the years. Mrs. Hisaw loved to fish, and the lake house provided the perfect setting for that hobby. Retirement brought about an interest in the motor home culture. Mr. and Mrs. Hisaw traveled throughout the country in their motor home and made many friends along the way. She was so deeply involved that she was eventually elected president of the Family Motor Coach Association’s southeast region.

The couple eventually relocated to Polk City, Florida where they lived for more than twenty years. While in Florida, Mrs. Hisaw served as president of their local Home Owners Association for four years. Her retirement hobbies including quilting, sewing, and any type of crafting. She was a true social butterfly who could talk to anyone and made friends easily. She was a loving and fun-seeking wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family above all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Ginger Lee Jelinek.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her adoring husband Bobbie Joe Hisaw; her children, Bonnie S. Rhoden (Allie) of Byromville and Jimmy Hisaw (Lisa) of Byron; her grandchildren, Natasha Montano, Justin Jelinek, Rex Rhoden (Alysia), Heather Barrs (Rob), Holly Bragg (Ethan), Megan Cornelius (Wes), Allison Fielding, and Jessica Bowers; and her great-grandchildren, Tristain Gibbons, Ashlynn Jelinek, Isabella Montano, Austin Rhoden, Landen Rhoden, Adalynn Barrs, Roman Barrs, Luke Potts, Sarah Bragg, Kai Fielding, Maddox Bowers, and Madeline Bowers; and a host of other extended family members and friends.

Visitation with Mrs. Hisaw’s family will be Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The graveside service celebrating her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Magnolia Park Cemetery where she will be laid to rest following the service.
