Betty Jean Doxey Coody

On the evening of Sunday, November 26, 2017, Betty Jean Coody, 72, passed away at the Medical Center of Peach County.

Betty Jean was born on March 6, 1945 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Jesse Sr. and Lucille Roberson Doxey. She was a teacher for the Bibb County Board of Education until her retirement. Betty Jean enjoyed traveling and loved animals. However, her greatest joy came from her beloved family especially her grandchildren and how proud she was of their accomplishments.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, David Henry Coody.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Robert G. Coody (Terry) of Gordon; Rebecca Ann Coody of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Adicia Dunlap (Sam) of Jacksonville, Florida, Torey Sadowski (Ronnie) of Marietta, Mallory Coody of Smyrna, and sister, Yvonne Pounds (Jack) of Memphis, Tennessee.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Magnolia Park Cemetery where Betty Jean will be laid to rest next to her late husband, David Coody.

The family will accept flowers but prefer donations be given in memory of Betty Jean Doxey Coody to Fisher House of Augusta at One Freedom Way, Augusta, GA 30904.
