Betty Jean Jones Carter joined her Lord in Heaven on Friday, September 22, 2023. She was 89 years old.

Betty was born on September 10, 1934 in Echols County, Georgia to the late David H. Jones and Lilla Mae Strickland. She married the love of her life, Jesse Edwin Carter, in Alaska where he was serving in the Air Force. She supported his military and civil service career moves throughout Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia. They enjoyed 44 wonderful years together filled with love, friendship, and unyielding commitment to family until his death in 1997. They had four children and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to the family. She supported their school and church activities, was a Girl Scout Leader, and a seamstress for them. She always enjoyed the family camping trips and later RVing.

They were members of the Plane Promenaders Square Dance Club for many years and traveled the country to many conventions. Always holding true to her lifelong faith, she was a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and the Joe Haselden Sunday School Class.
