Bettye Viverette Cobb

  Mrs. Bettye V. Cobb went home to be with her LORD on November 13,2025. She was 95.

Bettye was born on February 21, 1930 in Union, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Albert Lee and Myrtle Hembree Viverette.

She was a graduate of Mississippi State College. Bettye was a “forever teacher” who taught in the Mississippi Delta, in Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS), at Central Fellowship Christian Academy, and at home school. She taught many Bible study groups weekly in her home over the years. She loved sharing Jesus. She also enjoyed hearing from her former students and seeing them as often as possible.

Bettye was a member of Central Baptist Church in Warner Robins, Georgia.

Besides loving to teach, Bettye was an avid reader. She loved to travel and host people in her home.

She was a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and new great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Major Raymond E. Cobb; brother, Charles Viverette; and sister, Vonda Clower. She is survived by her brother Kent Viverette.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving children: Christopher Cobb of Fort Valley, Carol (Darrell) Yelverton of Perry, and Cynthia (Gerald) Peterman of Warner Robins. She will be remembered by her grandchildren: Gatlin, Callee Marie, and Jack Yelverton. Jesse, Kimberlee, and Ava Grace Peterman. She met her great-grandson, Griffith Chandler. She will be missed by extended family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Magnolia Park Cemetery, Saturday, November 22, at 11 a.m. Pastor Stephen Byrd will officiate.

Her daughter and granddaughter teach there. Two of her grandchildren graduated from there. She believed in the mission and vision of Woodfield Academy.
