Billy Summers passed away on the evening of Wednesday, April 22, 2026. He was 72 years old.
Born and raised in Clarkston, GA, Billy had a lifelong love for classic cars, cheering on his football teams, and making people laugh.
Billy had a personality that was impossible to ignore. He loved to tease, laugh, and would say exactly what was on his mind - you always knew where he stood. Yet his charm, warm smile, and unmistakable blue eyes made it hard for anyone to take offense. With his big heart and even bigger presence, he brought humor and honesty into every room he entered.
Billy built a career doing what he loved—working with his hands and bringing vehicles back to life. He spent many years in body shops before opening his own shop, Visions of the Past, where he specialized in restoring classic cars. His passion and craftsmanship were evident in every vehicle he touched.
Even after retirement, Billy never really slowed down. He continued tinkering with cars and making people laugh. But his favorite moments were spent outside with his dog, Abbey, admiring the results of his wife’s hard work in the yard.
He was a devoted husband to Lynette Summers, and together they shared a life full of travel and memories. Whether heading to the Smoky Mountains for car shows or making trips to Florida to spend time with their grandchildren, Billy cherished every moment with family.
Billy will be remembered for his quick wit, his love of cars, and the genuine joy he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded death by his son, Billy Summers, Jr. and his parents, Oliver and Martha McDaniel Summers.
Billy’s memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Lynette Summers of Kathleen; his son, Brad Childs (Nicole) of St. Augustine, FL; his grandchildren, Mikayla Childs of St. Augustine, FL, Alex Childs of Raleigh, NC, and Tori Downs (Kevin) of LaGrange, GA; great-grandchildren, Alex, Theo and Finn; brothers, Chuck Simmons (Tina) of Rome, GA and Mike Summers (Barbara) of Loganville, GA; and sister, Ann Williamson.
A graveside memorial service celebrating Billy’s life will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
