Blake Edward Heflin

August 5, 1997 — June 13, 2020

Blake Edward Heflin, age 22, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020, after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Born in Van Nuys, California on August 5, 1997, Blake was a 2015 graduate of Smithson Valley High School in Spring Brach, Texas where he excelled in wrestling and football (his bigger build made him a great linebacker). He went on to serve his country proudly for one year and a month as a United States Marine before being honorably medically discharged. Though he loved living in California and Texas, he moved to Georgia to be closer to his sister, Madison. Blake served as a corrections officer for the Georgia Department of Corrections for a short time before working as a retail parts professional at Advance Auto Parts. He loved riding his motorcycle, listening to country music, going to concerts and Stagecoach Festivals, and telling a good joke. He will always be remembered as a fun-loving prankster who enjoyed a good laugh and spending time with the family he loved.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Alexis Felix.

Blake is survived by his son, Calvin Theodore Berube and a baby girl on the way; fiancé, Madison Henry; father and stepmother, John and Michelle Heflin; mother and stepfather, Kali Urenamarte and Ivan Urena; sister, Madison Urena; grandparents, Gilbert William Forsythe, Linda Vicki Forsythe, Randall J. Heflin, and Barbara Heflin; aunt and uncles, Cinnamon Medley (Christopher) and R.J. Heflin; cousins, Brianna Hild and McKenna Anderson; and several other cousins and extended family members.

A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating Blake’s life will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Military Honors. For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given to a fund benefiting Blake Heflin. These gifts can be made payable to McCullough Funeral Home with “Blake Heflin Memorial Fund’ written in the memo line.
