Bob Hughes, 78, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 27, 2017.
Bob was born on May 22, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee and was of the Catholic faith. Growing up in Memphis, he graduated from Catholic High School and joined the United States Air Force where he served his country for six years with the SAC Reserve. Subsequent to Bob's military career, he worked for Illinois Central Railroad before a 31-year career with Delta Airlines in equipment maintenance. In his retirement, he started an equipment repair business called Machine Controls, which his sons will carry on. Fishing, hunting, traveling, and building racecars were a few of his favorite pastimes, but spending time with his family was the most enjoyable of all.
His parents, James and Arleen Parker Hughes, preceded him in death.
Bob's memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Hughes of Fairburn; James Timothy Hughes (Judy) of Oceanside, California, William Joseph Hughes and James Robert Hughes, Jr. (Lauren), both of Fairburn, Georgia, and Susan Haynes (Walt) of Byron; and grandchildren, Christopher Hughes, and Katlyn and Alyssa Haynes.
Visitation will be Friday, June 30th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in Forest Hill Cemetery South, Memphis, TN with visitation at the cemetery one hour prior.
