Bobbie Calhoun Griger, 78, entered into Heaven's gates on July 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of those who cherished her most.
Born on July 30, 1947, in Cordele, Georgia, Bobbie was the beloved daughter of the late George Calhoun and Jewel Mercer Calhoun. From an early age, she possessed a warm and welcoming spirit that would become the hallmark of her life. She truly never met a stranger, and her genuine kindness made everyone she encountered feel like family.
Bobbie shared a beautiful life with the love of her life, Cecil Will Griger. Together they built a marriage rooted in love, faith, and devotion, creating a home where family and friends were always welcomed with open arms. They were blessed with 57 wonderful years of marriage before Cecil's passing in March 2021, a testament to the enduring love and commitment they shared.
Throughout her career, Bobbie faithfully served the students of Houston County as a Nutrition Assistant with the Houston County School System until her retirement. Whether she was preparing meals or simply offering a kind word, she had a nurturing heart that naturally cared for others. She had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Bobbie dearly loved her church family and found great joy in lifting her voice in song. Whether singing in the church choir or sharing music with residents at local nursing homes, she believed music was a gift that could brighten hearts and bring comfort to others. Her joyful spirit was contagious, and she embraced every opportunity to serve the Lord through her talents.
Bobbie approached life with enthusiasm and an adventurous spirit. She was always ready for the next journey, the next gathering, or the next opportunity to make memories with those she loved. She truly loved life and lived it to the fullest, finding joy in both life's grand adventures and its simple everyday blessings.
A testament to her incredible strength and unwavering determination, Bobbie was a two-time cancer survivor. She faced each challenge with courage, resilience, and an unshakable faith that inspired everyone around her. Her positive outlook and grateful heart served as an example of perseverance and hope.
To her family, Bobbie was larger than life. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone around her a better person simply by the way she loved. She taught those closest to her how to embrace life with joy, extend kindness freely, and cherish every moment. Her legacy is one of unconditional love, compassion, laughter, and unwavering faith.
Above all else, Bobbie treasured her family and friends. The relationships she built and the countless lives she touched will continue to bear witness to a life beautifully lived. Though she will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved her find comfort in knowing that her joyful spirit, loving heart, and beautiful example will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Greg Griger (Lisa) and Terrill Griger (Dawn); grandchildren, Tyler Griger (Nayree), Dylan Griger (Jessica), and Brooke Griger; great grandchildren, Luna Griger, Milani Griger, Jovanni Griger, Leo Griger, and Korrinna Simmons; and numerous sisters, brothers, aunts, and extended family.
A drop in Celebration of Life will be held, Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Sandy Valley Baptist Church, located at 1124 South Houston Lake Road in Warner Robins, GA.
