Brian Keith Purcell, 62, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

Brian was born on April 25, 1964, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to the late Charles and Mary Purcell. A man devoted to serving others, Brian dedicated much of his life to helping and protecting those around him, both through his military service and his career in emergency medicine.

Brian proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Green Beret with Special Forces, where he served as a Spanish linguist in special operations. During his distinguished military service, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal in recognition of his dedication and service.

Following his time in the Army, Brian continued his education and earned a bachelor’s degree in religion. His heart for service remained a defining part of his life as he went on to spend more than 30 years as a paramedic in the state of Georgia. Throughout his career, Brian answered the call to help people during some of their most difficult and vulnerable moments, dedicating decades of his life to the care of others.

Above all, Brian treasured his family. He was a devoted husband and father whose greatest joy was found in those he loved. His years of service, strength of character, and commitment to helping others leave behind a legacy that will be remembered by his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.

In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bertie and Ruby Fields.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife, Christina Purcell; sons, Carson Garrett Purcell, Conner Thomas Purcell, and Keigan Patrick Purcell; brother, Todd Purcell (Mandi); brother-in-law, Howard Flippen; nieces, Melanie Purcell and Macie Purcell; and nephews, Matthew Flippen (Meagan), Jacob Flippen, and Justin Flippen (Natalie).

Visitation will be Friday, October 2, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Brian will be laid to rest in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
