Brody Alan Amerine

May 26, 2019 — May 26, 2019

We were super excited to find out we were pregnant. We actually found out only 5 weeks after conception. Although we spent weeks on end talking about girls, NO TWINS and girl names, we knew we would be happy either way. He kept his mommy guessing with her sicknesses and food cravings and even though she thought she wanted a little girl for daddy, everything told her body it was a boy. We had only briefly even discussed boy names, and Brody was not even really mentioned until a few weeks ago. It ended in a “Y”, just like both our names and it literally had Roy’s name in the same order (bROdY). It was a hit, not to mention his middle name would be his dads as well. So it wasn’t a total surprise when the reveal smoke bombs turned navy blue and Amy just sealed it with a kiss and a smile as if to say “I told you so”. The next 15 minutes were filled with such a joy to look at pictures through an ultrasound with some friends and family at a viewing party.

This is where the smiles turned to tears as we found out his little heart had stopped beating, probably only a day earlier as mommy had felt his little flutters, for a couple of weeks. I will skip the next 14 hours of his sad but beautiful birth at 16 weeks and 2 days and share some moments of what Amy and I will FOREVER cherish. We got to hold him. We got to kiss his tiny forehead. Momma sang to him. Daddy watched SportsCenter with him and we talked about his their favorite teams (and his brothers too). Mommy and Daddy held him in his little basket and watched the movie “Trolls” with him and decided that the song “True Colors” would be our song with him. We also got to dance with him. All this and one of the most special and heart fulfilling moments is when we took a simple cafeteria provided chocolate dessert cake and we sang Happy Birthday to Brody. So for about 14 hours we had our hearts ripped out but we choose to keep him with us for 28 hours and it was the best time we could have dreamed of with him. We love you Brody and we are so thankful you came into our lives even though you left way to early for any of us.

Fly high our little angel, we will see you again soon!

Love Mommy and Daddy.

Brody is survived by his parents, Roy Amerine and Amy Buffington Amerine of Bonaire, Georgia; siblings, Lexi Hansson, Logan Hansson, Hailey Hansson, Matthew Amerine; grandparents, Robin Stacy, Marcia Bass and Mike Bass.
