Dr. Bruce E. Shaver, retired colonel in the U.S. Air Force, 89, passed away peacefully on Nov. 30, surrounded by his family. He proudly served as a dentist in the Air Force for 25 years before retiring and entering private practice in 1987. He continued in private practice in Warner Robins until the age of 76.
Born on Nov. 5, 1936, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, he was the only child of Vada Wolf. After a childhood spent in Pennsylvania, he went on to earn degrees from Temple University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University of Texas, before being commissioned in the Air Force. During his military career, he was assigned to numerous locations around the globe before his last assignment as the commander of the Robins Air Force Base dental clinic.
Bruce loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling, photography, golf, and, most of all, spending time with his family.
His loving nature and kind spirit will forever be cherished by his family and countless friends and patients.
He was a loving husband for 51 years to his wife, Anne, who passed away 10 years ago.
He is survived by two cherished daughters, Leigh (Bo) Joyner and Erin (Bailey) Pryor, both of Kathleen; grandchildren, Griffin Joyner (Alex) and Bailey McIntyre (Mikey), both of Atlanta; and one great-granddaughter, Nellie Joyner.
