Carl Wayne
Hammond
Jan 12, 1936 — Oct 14, 2026
Warner Robins, GA
Carl Wayne Hammond, 90, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
Carl was born on January 12, 1936, in Taswell, Indiana, to the late Gentry and Belle Hammond. He was raised in southern Indiana and attended Mount Olympus High School, where he was the senior class president and the manager of the basketball team. He would return to school later in life, earning his B.A. from Crandall College.
Following high school, Carl spent three years with the United States Army before beginning a seventeen-year stint with the United States Air Force. During this time, he proudly served his country in Vietnam and eventually retired as a Technical Sergeant. Carl continued serving his country in the civil service, using his skills to repair airplane electronics at Robins Air Force Base. In 1975, Carl moved into Foreign Military Sales, a role he retired from in 1993. He spent his later years doing contract work for Robins Air Force Base, volunteering with the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins, and working part time at Sears.
In his free time, Carl could often be found tinkering with electronics, lost in a good book, or caring for the wildlife around the house. He also had an infatuation with fast cars and loved traveling. Carl was also a member of the Tyrian Lodge III for many years. Above all else, Carl loved his family. One of his greatest joys was entertaining his grandkids and great grandkids.
Carl was a quiet soul, but when he did speak, people were quick to listen. He was generous, freely giving of his time and resources whenever they were needed. He will be remembered as a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Majel Marie Hammond, his brother, Donald Lee Hammond, and his granddaughter, Madine Marie Hammond.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Hammond (Craig Graham) and Warren Hammond (Patricia); his grandchildren, Jason Hammond (Nicole), Warren Shafor (Nicole), Mallory Tucker (Jared), Adam Deich, and Paul Hammond (Jenna); his great grandchildren, Levi James, Lily James, Pheobe Hammond, Brooke Shafor, Nolan Hammond, Eben Shafor, Charles Tucker, and Maggie Tucker; and his siblings, Joseph D. Hammond (Alice) and Ellen Morgan (John); along with a host of extended family and friends.
All services will be held in Indiana. These serves are pending.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Carl to the ASPCA at secure.aspca.org/donate.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
