Carleen Clearman of Warner Robins passed away peacefully on January 29, 2016 at the age of 92. Graveside services will be held at Parkway Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.
Carleen was born in Collinsville, Mississippi, on September 23, 1923 to Carl and Velma Clark. Growing up during lean times and never having strayed far from the farm, she bravely flew to Honolulu to marry P.L. Clearman, Jr., in February 1951. They moved to an apartment near Diamond Head and then transferred to Travis AFB, CA, in 1952, where their two sons were born in 1953 and 1954. She remained a loyal and supportive Air Force wife throughout other moves to Louisiana, Hawaii (again), and New York before the family finally settled in Warner Robins in 1964. She and P.L. remained happily together for over 61 years at the time of his death in 2012. Carleen was a quiet and gentle soul, having the sweetest of smiles and never an unkind word. She was selfless, always putting her family and others first, never complaining. Carleen was dearly loved and will be missed by those who had the good fortune to know her.
Carleen had resided at the Summerhill Assisted Living Facility and Nursing Center for the past couple of years. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Summerhill staff for their care and support during her stay.
Carleen was preceded in death by her parents and by her younger brother, Lloyd Freeman.
She is survived by sons Brian (Pam) of Schertz, TX, Alan (Melanie), of Byron, GA, granddaughter Audrey of Tybee Island, GA, sister, Sarah Gully of Denham Springs, LA and nieces and nephews.
