On the evening of Friday, August 14, 2026, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Carol Lee Wellborn, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was 73 years old.
Born in Fort Valley, Georgia, on April 17, 1953, Carol was the daughter of the late Thurman Currington and Betty Russell Scott. Carol was a hardworking and fiercely independent woman who dedicated many years of her life to her career with Boeing Co. She was known for her Christ-centered life, strong-willed personality, giving spirit, and her unwavering love for the people and animals in her life.
Carol found joy in many things, including attending church, playing bingo, cross-stitching, and in past years, woodworking. She had a love for collecting just about everything—and that love even extended to animals, of which she was always happy to have plenty. Above all else, Carol treasured her grandchildren and cherished every moment she spent with them. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her sisters, Vicky Currington and Shirley Lemaster.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving children, Wendy Wellborn, Amber Segars (Doug), and Anthony Wellborn (Misty); her grandchildren, Ryan McLendon (Sara Katherine), Zane Wagner (Maya), Lucas Wagner (Lydia), Mikayla Wellborn, Christian Wellborn, and Brooklynn Wellborn; her siblings, Lewis Currington, Sue Johnson, and Georgia Young; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Carol’s life at Memorial Heights Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 noon, with Pastor Lewis Kiger and Pastor Wayne Edwards officiating.
Following the service, Carol will be laid to rest at Pine Level Cemetery in Mauk, Georgia.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
