Carrie LueBell Coney

October 21, 1954 — November 26, 2025

Carrie LueBell Coney, born on October 21, 1954, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, (Mother- Mammie Lee McCormick, Father- Lucky Jackson) departed this life on November 26, 2025, in peace and with the Lord in her heart. Though she spent her final years in Dublin, Georgia, her journey carried her far beyond her birthplace. Carrie lived in many cities throughout her life, including Detroit, Michigan, and parts of Florida, each place shaping her into the powerful, unforgettable woman she became.

Carrie was a woman of strength, courage, and conviction. During her younger years, she joined the Black Panther movement, driven by her desire to see justice, equality, and real change in the world around her. She faced many obstacles and challenges throughout her life, yet she met every one of them with determination and resilience. Carrie lived a life of no regrets, choosing always to stand for what she believed in and to love fiercely those she held close.

She was the life of the party, a warm spirit with a big heart who never failed to make people laugh, feel loved, or feel welcomed. Carrie had a natural gift for cooking—her southern, soulful meals brought comfort and togetherness to family and friends. Her kitchen was a place of love, laughter, and healing.

In her early adulthood, Carrie worked as a nurse, caring for others with the same compassion she poured into her family. Her nurturing nature touched countless lives, both inside and outside the home.

Carrie is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Joyce Ann Coney, who passed away in March 2000 in Detroit, Michigan. Joyce leaves behind four granddaughters who became the center of Carrie’s heart: Delish, Kenyetta, Tenisha, and Bionca (Johnson). Carrie’s love extended into the next generation as she was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Iysis, Michael, Ricardo Jr., Jayde, Daron Jr., Kamilyah, and Cayden.

She also leaves to cherish her memory of her devoted cousins, Joanne Bailey, Daron Brown, Carol Well and LeVette Thomas Wilder, and friends who stood by her side with love and support.

Carrie was a woman of deep faith. Before her transition, she spoke with peace and certainty, saying she knew who the Lord was and that she was ready. Her faith carried her through life’s storms and brought her comfort in her final days.

Carrie LueBell Coney leaves behind a legacy of strength, boldness, love, and resilience. She lived her life unapologetically, fought for what she believed in, and loved without limits. Her spirit, her laughter, and her courage will continue to shine through her family for generations to come.
