Charles Thomas "Tom" Collier

Charles Thomas “Tom” Collier, 77, passed away peacefully, after an extended illness, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and the memories of a life well lived.

Tom was born to the late Bennie Bernard Collier, Sr. and Edna Spencer Collier of Perry, Georgia. Raised with strong values of faith, family, and service, he carried those principles throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era, developing a lifelong respect and gratitude for his nation and for all who serve in the armed forces.

Tom retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base after 38 years of dedicated service, concluding his career as a logistics manager. Following his retirement, he continued his work as a contractor and liaison between Robins Air Force Base and Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

An avid outdoorsman, Tom found his greatest joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time outside. He often described nature as his place of worship, where he felt closest to God while enjoying the sunshine, fresh air, and the beauty of the heavens. Even throughout his illness, he found peace outdoors, continuing to take walks whenever he could and always wanting to feel the sun on his face. Key West, Florida, home to his mother’s family, held a special place in his heart, where he spent many summers enjoying the coast, the salt air, and the peaceful spirit of the Florida Keys.

Tom also loved working in his yard, gardening, feeding birds, and taking evening drives for coffee. He had a well-known sweet tooth and never passed up an opportunity to enjoy his favorite treats. Known for his mechanical talent, he could fix almost anything.

Above all else, family was the center of Tom’s life. He loved his family “to the moon and back” and was known for his selfless heart, always putting others first. He took great pride in his grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on at church programs, sporting events, school activities, or Grandparents Day celebrations.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Cynthia “Cindy” Collier.

Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Jane Collier; his son, Brent Collier (Jennifer) of Perry, Georgia; his daughter who was always known by him as his “Doll”, Dana Collier Williams (James) of Elko, Georgia; and his cherished granddaughters, Amelia “Millie” McKenzie, Ilah Catherine “Ilah Cate” McKenzie, and Eva Madelyn “Maddie” Collier. He is also survived by his siblings, Bennie Collier of Perry, Georgia; Carol Norris (Steve) of Warner Robins, Georgia; Catherine Rentz of Columbia, South Carolina; and Caran Sherwood (Don) of Loudon, Tennessee; his beloved fur companion of 10 years, Bella; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be Monday, February 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Perry Methodist Church, with a funeral service immediately following. Afterward, Tom will be laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery with military honors.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who provided care, compassion, and love to Tom throughout the past several years following his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease. They are especially thankful for the dedicated medical staff and caregivers who walked alongside him on this difficult journey, helping to make his days as comfortable and peaceful as possible.

The family also sincerely thanks everyone for their prayers, kind words, and unwavering support during this time. Your kindness, patience, and compassion meant more than words can express. The love, care, and prayers shown to Tom and his family will never be forgotten and will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
