Charles Wilbur Hollifield

January 15, 1930 — August 3, 2025

Bonaire

Charles Wilbur Hollifield entered into rest at the age of 95, on Sunday, August 3, 2025. Born on January 15, 1930, in Commerce, Georgia, he was the son of the late Nelson Hugh and Annie Richey Hollifield.

A proud American, Charles served his country with honor in the United States Army. His dedication to service continued long after his military tenure, as he faithfully worked for many years as a foreman on Robins Air Force Base until his retirement.

Charles lived simply and joyfully. He took delight in his favorite pastimes, fishing, tending his garden and growing prized tomatoes, camping under the stars, and tinkering with small engines. In fact, he became the go-to lawn mower repairman for just about everyone who knew him.

He had a curious mind and was always eager to learn something new. Charles could often be found watching YouTube videos, playing Solitaire and Minesweeper, or diving into his next project. He also loved watching NASCAR.

His easygoing nature was summed up in one of his favorite phrases: "Keep on having fun." It was how he lived, and it's how he will be remembered.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, Joel and Jimmy Hollifield.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife of 70 years, Helen Evans Hollifield; children, Ronald Keith Hollifield (Jeny), Mark Wayne Hollifield, Tony Hollifield (Kelly); grandchildren, Danielle Hollifield, Lauren Mitchell (James), Sarah Talmage (Caleb), Madison Pogue (Chip), Eli Hollifield, Sam Hollifield, Maria Hollifield; great-grandchildren, Lincoln Mitchell, Ezra Mitchell; siblings, Betty Mize, and Geraldine Carithers; as well as many beloved extended family members including, Shannon Frank, Charles Virgil Gibbs; and friends.
