Charles Kenneth (Ken) Mercer, 92, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

Ken was born on August 11, 1933, in Dothan, Alabama to the late Charles P. Mercer and Mabel Welliver. He was raised in Warner Robins and graduated from Warner Robins High School, class of 1950. Ken played basketball for the WRHS Demons. Ken attended Mercer University and later graduated from Georgia College in 1984 with a Bachelors in Business Administration. He married Beverly Mills in 1956.

Ken’s life was defined by his servant heart. He enlisted in the US Army during the Korean War and proudly served his country. After returning to Warner Robins, Ken joined the family business, Mercer Motor Company (later Tower Chrysler-Plymouth) and became General Manager in 1965. Ken took great pride in serving his local community as a member of the Jaycees. In 1981, Ken began work in the Avionics Electronic Systems Directorate of Robins Air Force Base, continuing as an Equipment Specialist until his retirement in 2004. Above all, Ken loved serving the Lord as a Deacon at First Baptist Church and also Shirley Hills Baptist Church in Warner Robins. Ken was actively involved in many mission projects, including the migrant ministry of Rehoboth Baptist Association. In 2023, Ken & Beverly joined First Baptist Church of Centerville, Georgia.

In his spare time, Ken was an avid supporter of his Atlanta teams. He was a diehard Georgia Tech, Braves, Hawks, and Falcons fan through all their ups and downs. He also enjoyed watching Nascar, especially Richard Petty, and was a proficient woodworker. Ken was also a great supporter of

American Red Cross blood drives, donating dozens of pints of blood over his lifetime.

Above all, Ken was a great father and husband. He will be remembered for the endless support he showed to his daughters, the love he showered on his family, and his dedication to showing the love of Christ to everyone around him.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of 70 years, Beverly Mercer and his daughters Cindi Riley (Jim), Beth Haley (Banks), and Jenni Russ (Brian). Ken was lovingly known as PaPa to his grandchildren, Josh Riley (Audrey), Chris Russ (Allison), Melissa Noble (Seth), Matthew Haley, and Brianna Walker (Dalton); great-grandchildren Maggie Riley, Mills Riley, Julia Russ, Molly Riley, Jacob Russ, and Maverick Riley; and a niece, Michael Paul (Roy). Ken was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Mercer.

A memorial gathering will be held at McCullough Funeral Home on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. On the following day, a graveside service will take place at Andersonville National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 10:00 A.M.
