Charles Russell Fitzgerald

Charles “Charlie” Russell Fitzgerald, 89, entered into rest on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

Charlie was born on December 14, 1933, in Rochelle, Georgia to the late Charles and Thelma Fitzgerald. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church where he served as both a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher, as well as the Building and Grounds Chairman. He loved helping others and often offered his help to family and friends whenever he could. Known lovingly as “Mr. Fix-It,” he loved woodworking. He enjoyed crocheting bedspreads, doilies, and baby blankets in his free time. He also loved family game nights playing cards or scrabble, jigsaw puzzles and crosswords.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Naomi Fitzgerald and his siblings, Billy Fitzgerald and Margie Johnson.

His memory will forever be treasured by his daughters, Cindy Mace, Kathy Mosely (Carl), Annie Allen, Sarah Fitzgerald, and Nancy Harper (David); grandchildren, Chris Mosely (Kristy), Brian Mace, Jason Allen (Heather), Cliff Mace, Allen Smith (Brettney), David Smith (Heather), and Anna Alsager (Shawn); siblings, Ann Wade, Elsie Clements (Ronnie), Donnie Fitzgerald, Ronnie Fitzgerald (Wanda Gail), Sandra Driver (Stan), and Brenda Spires (Larry); along with 8 great-grandchildren and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Afterward, Charlie will be laid to rest in Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Charlie Fitzgerald to Northside Baptist Church at 1013 Carl Vinson Parkway, Centerville, GA 31028.
