Charlotte Susan Avrett, 76, of Warner Robins, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025. Born in Ringgold, GA, to the late Hubert and Nell Peters Gordy, Charlotte’s life was a testament to kindness, faith, and love.
Charlotte’s gentle spirit and warm smile touched everyone she met. She was the kind of person who always had an encouraging word and a welcoming presence, making friends wherever she went. Her faith was central to her life, and she found great joy and fellowship in her ladies' Bible Study group, where she formed lasting friendships and supported others with her compassion and wisdom.
A proud graduate of Ringgold High School (Class of 1967), Charlotte continued her education at Dalton State College, Georgia Southern University, Fort Valley State University, and Georgia Southwestern College. In 1974, she married James (“Jim”) Avrett, and they celebrated fifty-one years of marriage together. Charlotte supported Jim throughout his Army career, making homes in Washington D.C., Maryland, Oklahoma, Germany, and Texas before settling in Warner Robins.
Charlotte dedicated nearly thirty years to teaching elementary school, nurturing countless young minds at Thomas, Pearl Stephens, and Parkwood Elementary Schools. Her students remember her as a caring and patient teacher who made learning fun and meaningful.
Above all, Charlotte cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who treasured every moment spent with her loved ones. Family gatherings were her greatest joy, and she created a home filled with laughter, love, and faith.
Charlotte was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church, where she found strength and community. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and love will live on in all who knew her.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Jim Avrett of Warner Robins; three children, Mandy Couey (Guy) of Kathleen, Wendy Forster (Anthony) of Morristown, TN, and Jamey Avrett (Kristie) of Mount Joy, PA; seven grandchildren, Aiden, Kennedy, Abby, Skylar, Shepherd, Carrabelle, and Jameson; one brother, Wendell Gordy (Pat) of Chattanooga, TN; nieces and nephews, Duane, Constance, Lucas, Marcus, and Kevin Gordy; several great-nieces and great-nephews, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Shirley and Stanley Gordy.
