Claudia Mae Tharpe

December 4, 1945 — December 28, 2025

Warner Robins

Claudia Tharpe was born in Houston County, Georgia to the late Willie and Lola Tharpe. From an early age, she was surrounded by family, faith, and love with values that guided her throughout her life. She received her education in the Houston County Public School System.

Claudia devoted many years of faithful service to the Houston County Board of Education, retiring as a special needs school bus driver. This was more than a job to her, it was a calling. She lovingly cared for every child entrusted to her, treating each rider as if they were her own. Her gentle spirit, patience, and genuine concern left a lasting impression on the children and families she served.

A woman of strong faith, Claudia was a devoted and active member of New Song Missionary Baptist Church, where she found joy in worship and fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Eunice Woodard, Willie Bell Felder, Rosa Lee Tharpe, Nellie Ruth Wynn, J.C. Tharpe, and Edward Tharpe.

Claudia leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted son, Samuel K. Stubbs; his father, Sam Stubbs; sisters, Mary Stubbs and Bernice Turner; brothers, Albert Tharpe and James Tharpe; and her devoted niece, Marlene (Sylvester) Turner, who lovingly became her full-time caregiver. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who were deeply blessed by her love and kindness.

She will be fondly remembered by her devoted friends, Mamie Ross; Larry and Mariah Smith; Florine Howard; Mr. Willie Henry and family; Elder Gerri Green; and Sandra Jackson, whom she loved like a daughter, along with countless other friends whose lives she touched. Her warm smile, kind words, and gentle presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Dr. Samuel Palmer, Enhabit Hospice Care, and PrimeCare Home Care Services for their compassionate care, unwavering support, and genuine kindness shown during her time of need.
