Joseph E. Thompson, Sr., 73, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015.
Joseph was born on June 1, 1941 in Washington, DC. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he served two tours in Vietnam, then retired after 30 years as a Chief Master Sergeant. After his military career, he worked for Lowe's, retiring after twenty-four years. In his spare time Joseph loved to play bingo and spending time with his family.
His wife, Ora Bell Thompson, and parents, Roger and Agnes Bowman Thompson, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his sons, Joseph E. Thompson, Jr. of Mobile, Alabama, David L. Thompson (Ivy) of Bonaire, John M. Thompson (Wanda) of Lawrenceville, James A. Thompson (Chandria) of Springfield, Virginia; grandchildren, Joseph III, Brittney, Jacquese, Jamila, Cyrus, Brandy, Janay; sisters, Barbara Thomas of Washington DC., Althea Jacobs of Silver Springs, Maryland, and brother, James Thompson, of Oxon Hill, Maryland.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery with full military honors.
