Cmsgt. Thomas Michael Petrie, Usaf (Ret.)

December 23, 1942 — April 24, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Thomas Michael Petrie. He passed away after an extended illness on the afternoon of Monday, April 24, 2023 and was reunited in Heaven with his belated wife, Brigida Petrie, his parents, James G. and Margaret S. Petrie, and others who had gone before.


Born in Kinston, NC on December 23, 1942, Mr. Petrie contributed nearly 50 years of hard work and service to his country. After 22 years, he retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant, where he started as an aircraft maintainer, then focused on recruiting the next generation of Airmen. Mr. Petrie retired again after 20 years working several aircraft and helicopter programs as a USAF Civilian. He then went on to work at ARINC as a DoD Contractor. Additionally, Mr. Petrie was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Skies Catholic Parish at Robins Air Force Base since 1982 and a was longtime member of the Knights of Columbus where he held numerous volunteer positions.


Those left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Brigid Petrie-O’Hearn (Don) of Fredericksburg, VA, Thomas M. Petrie, Jr. (Debra) of Lyman, SC; grandchildren, Christy Petrie, Savannah O’Hearn and Shannon O’Hearn; great-grandchildren, Christopher Barrett, Charleigh Barrett and Delilah Cooke; and brother, Joseph Petrie (Elizabeth) and nieces, Jamie and Cindy Petrie, all of FL.


A private service was held for Mr. Petrie’s family which will be followed by a Celebration of Life for family and friends in the summer.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in memory of Tom Petrie to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry St., Ste. A., Macon, GA 31201.
