Vietnam Veteran, William R. Massey passed into the hands of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the age of 91. He was born in Carnesville, GA on October 18, 1930, the son of the late George Thomas and Willie Mae Shackleford Massey.
Mr. Massey proudly served his country for 33 years in the United States Air Force where he served in the Vietnam War and retired having attained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his military retirement, he pursued a career at Lockheed Martin as an aircraft maintenance supervisor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eleanor Jean Massey; sisters Shirley Self and Jessie Freels.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving sons, Robert Massey (Andrea) of Tucson, AZ and Kevin Massey of Byron, GA; stepdaughter, Debbie Newsome of Summerfield, FL; stepson, Ralph Wilkerson of Wasilla, AK; brother Richard Massey (Vicki) of Lake City, TN; former spouse, Billie J Massey of Byron, GA; former daughter in law, Nikki Massey of Warner Robins, GA; and grandchildren, Brian Massey (Megan), Stephanie Massey (Doug), Lynn Massey (Martin), Michael Massey, Joshua Wilkerson, and Amanda Thompson (Josh); great grandchildren Parker Massey, Kara Lyman, and Chris and Kara Thompson; along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with William’s family will take place on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest with a graveside funeral service on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 3:00, in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
