Pierce Duane Turner, 77, left his earthly home for his eternal home on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.
Duane was born on November 21, 1937 in Pontotoc, Mississippi. He proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserves. During his illustrious 39 year military career, Duane held various positions before retiring as Colonel. He was a member of the Air Force Association and attended Christ Lutheran Church.
His parents, Franklin and Christine Reeder Turner; beloved grandson, Luke Campbell; and nephew, Scott Chesnutt, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen Cunningham Turner of Perry; daughter, Sandra Morgan (David) of Perry; son, Michael Turner (LeAnne) of Perry; grandchildren, Andrew Campbell of Haynesville, Jonathan Campbell (Amber) of Marshallville, Brian Waldrop (Erica) of Perry, Silas Turner of Perry; great grand-children, Madison Campbell of Haynesville, Jon Luke Campbell of Marshallville; sister, Scottie Chesnutt of Huntsville, Alabama; nephew, Frank Chesnutt (Lisa) of Huntsville, Alabama; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, June 26, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Duane will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Mausoleum with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given In Memory of Col. Pierce Duane Turner to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd. Suite 330, Jacksonville, Fl 32256 or Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon, Ga 31201.
