Constance “Connie” Gibbs Edmondson, 80, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
Connie was born on November 9, 1943, in Bristol, Virginia to the late E.C. and Helen Gibbs. She grew up in Orlando, Florida where she graduated from high school. From there, she went to secretarial college and earned her degree before meeting and marrying her husband, Roy. They moved to California for a time, then to Dublin, before moving to Warner Robins in 1977. Here, she began working at Robins Air Force Base in accounting and finance. After Roy retired in 1992, they relocated to Destin where she continued to work in accounting and finance for Hurlburt Field Air Force Base until she and Roy moved back to Warner Robins in 2015. Connie was a social butterfly and enjoyed participating in a ladies’ bunco group, a ladies’ potluck group, The Republican Women’s Association, and The Newcomers Club. She was also active with Second Baptist Church’s various groups such as the weekly welcome team each Sunday, the bereavement committee, and the Kindred Spirit Sunday School class, which was her favorite. In her free time, Connie enjoyed being with her family and friends, her swimming pool, shopping, watching her beloved Atlanta Braves, reading her Bible, and reading Danielle Steele novels. Her presence will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Edmondson and son, Wade Elliot Edmondson.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Denise Townsend (Billy), and Michelle Williams (Kelly); grandchildren, Allison Townsend, Taylor Suttles (Connor), Chelsea Baker (Billy Joe), Gavin Edmondson, and Jimmy Townsend; great-grandchildren, Emersynn Edmondson, Camece Suttles, Sophie Baker, Natalie Townsend and Latham Edmondson.
